On-going project Ogin 34-1

Kibaik Yuon

Yuon notes the function of the letter 'record' on the basis of the space in which the demolition is scheduled. At the same time, he collects unstructured marginalized records (traces) and creates new meanings according to their physical characteristics. It is a part of an On-going project that he has done for several years. The project is a series of reading spaces by contacting with the body while staying in an available empty house or space for an acceptable period. The artist collects and records traces left on the inside and outside, and exhibits the by-products of the process.

Kibaik Yuon

Yuon expresses the phenomenon of things abandoned and being pushed around from the center as sculptures and installations on the basis of interest in everyday things and space. "In this age with no more absolutes, what I have found is to confront and communicate with things that are pushed around in daily life. It starts from asking the meaning of life and seeks to expand the existing viewpoint, not on the level of knowledge acquisition or mere understanding, but on the level of search for something functioning in the body. In order to do so, it is a process to create body postures standing next to the objects, meeting physically with them, following their textures, enduring powerlessness, and finally accepting (...). By-products from this process become work and new encounters begin." (Excerpt from the artist's note)
