Study of Butt Font

Anyone in Korea would have tried to write their names in their buttocks once. Is there such a culture in other countries as well? When did people start writing their names in their buttocks? Why is it not in the other part of body but in the buttocks? The study of ‘Writing names in buttocks’ started in Berlin, which did not have that culture, is evolving along with continuous questions after arriving in Seoul. When we look analytically into writing names in buttocks of the artist and other peoples and follow the concept of ' Buttfont’ presented by the researchers, the audience finally meets the world of their experiences, memories, consciousness and senses.

Yujin Kim

Kim creates performances, writes, teaches language, and dances. As a Korean language teacher, she has questioned the concept of identities and Koreans. She made a documentary-based play Native Speaker (2016) and participated as a performer in an improvisation concert ALITY (2018) exploring virtual reality through the body. She is currently studying ‘writing names in buttocks’ and exploring possibilities somewhere between body and language.
