Scripts have many important functions and values. For example, scripts are used to record verbal language can be read out later. However, the true uniqueness and individuality of scripts come from the fact that they can be written or scribed out in various forms and ways.
In this project, we expect participants of the event will have the opportunity to scribe the less known or distinctive scripts of the world. The participants will then have a chance to make the scribed pieces into their own 3D artworks and to make exhibitions of them. The scribing and exhibition activity is designed to introduce about the beauty of the different scripts of the world and to help the participants to better appreciate it so that the existence of the minor scripts of the world will be known to more people.
This project has two purposes. The first one is to introduce the concept of the ecology of scripts to the public and to discuss ways to preserve it. The second one is to call for a renewed public attention to the history of the advanced techniques and efforts for the preservation of scripts by our ancestors, which proceeded from the traditional woodblock printing and then movable metal type technology and finally to the modern 3D casting techniques.
In addition, the event will hold exhibitions of the scripts of the world on the streets of the Tongui-dong area, reviving the tradition of putting up a name plate on the door. The aim of this street exhibition is to project more diverse aspects of human life and stories into the main content of the event.

Step 1
The theme of the exhibition can be represented by the words like ‘humans and scripts’, ‘respect for humans’, ‘respect for culture’, ‘equality of humans’, ‘equality of scripts’, ‘equality of culture’. We will use Google Translation to collect scripts of the world corresponding to the theme words and made a selection of key words in order to exemplify the theme words of the exhibition. The selected words are ‘love’, ‘happiness’, ‘friends’, ‘peace’, ‘wisdom’, ‘freedom’, ‘agreement’, ‘family’, ‘solidarity’, ‘belief’, ‘to participate’, ‘to be healthy’, ‘to miss’, ‘hand in hand’, ‘stay the same where you are’, ‘to be dazzling’, etc. The beginning point of the project, which is aimed for experiencing scripts of the world, will be selecting theme words of the project and target languages for translation through discussions.

Step 2
We will visit houses and pedestrians in Tongui-dong area and show them collected scripts and ask them to scribe down the words they prefer. About two hundred words scribed on the paper will be recreated as two sculptures through 3D scanning. One of the sculptures will be presented to the signer of the script as a gift and the other sculpture will be placed on the street for exhibition and face the visitors.
Step 3
The tradition of putting up a name plate on the door and the graffiti art, which transformed scribbles and graffiti of the streets into an art form, will catch the eyes of the visitors and call for their attention. We will inscribe various scripts of the world on many parts of the streets and install them for exhibition. We will also hand out the [GAGAHOHO Script] Maps to the visitors in order to make more lively interactions with the participants. The [GAGAHOHO Script] Map will help the participants to better understand the meanings of the words and scripts placed and exhibited in the streets. The 3D artworks and collected scripts and languages during the event will be printed as a catalogue and will be delivered to the relevant organizations and institutions in and out of the country.
